Dear Job Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in a summer position at Sunshine Kids’
Club Camp. Please follow these steps to apply for a job:
Read about our purpose, goals and objectives
and learn about our programs.
Download and mail application to:
175 Klee Mill Road,
Sykesville, MD 21784 |
There is also a reference form to download
(please print 3 copies). Give these, along with a stamped
envelope addressed to Sunshine Kids’ Club, to three adults who
are not related to you. These references should know you well enough
to comment on your potential for success in this position. Applications
will not be considered without references. After we receive your application
and references, we will consider your qualifications in terms of positions
available. If your skills meet our needs, we will contact you for
an interview. Although an interview at the camp is preferable, we
may conduct telephone interviews for out-of-state applicants.
A job in a summer camp requires 6.5 to 12 hour days and the ability
to maintain a strenuous schedule for 11 weeks. Only those who are
confident that they have the dedication, stamina, and sensitivity
to children should consider applying. Sunshine Kids’ Club has
a zero tolerance on alcohol and drug use. Smoking is not permitted
at any time when on duty or on the property.
All staff are required to attend pre-camp staff training prior to
the arrival of campers. Some Certification training begins in late
May. General staff training begins early June. CIT training begins
in late May. Working at camp is a demanding job, but the reward far
exceeds the sacrifices, offering the opportunity to make a real impact
on the lives of children. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Please understand that Sunshine Kids’ Club receives several
hundred applications prior to the beginning of summer camp. For this
reason you should turn in your application AND reference letters as
soon as possible. Please be aware that returning camp staff members
will have seniority. Other applications will be reviewed on a first
come first serve basis. Once your application has been reviewed, one
of two things will happen. You will either receive a call to set-up
an interview, or your application will be saved in file for future
reference and hiring purposes due to the limited positions available.
While Sunshine Kids’ Club provides a fun and exciting work environment,
Sunshine directors and senior staff have high expectations for all
employees. You will be expected to represent our company in a professional
and responsible manor. We rely on your consistent daily attendance
to keep the camp running smoothly as well as providing the continuity
of care promised to the parents. If you cannot commit to working at
camp Monday-Friday for the duration of the summer, Sunshine Kids’
Club is not the camp for you. Please take these expectations into
consideration before submitting your application.
